About the Cottages

Home » About the Cottages

Our wee self catering cottages have a fine history.

They were originally part of the Carradale Estate which covered a huge area surrounding and including the fishing village of Carradale with The Mains as the estate farm.

But over the decades forestry – and now wind farms- have taken over the surrounding hills and Carradale House and the farm are all that remains – plus a few farm cottages

And now, let us introduce ourselves –

We are Mike and Trish Hurst, and in 1975 we bought the last remaining farm building – the byre- and converted it into a fine wee house for ourselves, and, over time, we have modernised the other cottages for use as holiday cottages.

Although thoroughly modern in facilities, and with and mod cons for an easy stay, we have tried hard to keep their character and we just couldn’t resist keeping the old pine doors and the odd hay rake, and throwing a bit of colour around.

But nothing is perfect, and we are always making little changes to improve things. Keeping up with the digital era in a place as remote as Carradale is quite a challenge, but we have risen to it!

Our aim is to give you a relaxed and enjoyable holiday, if you need help-we’ll be there – but otherwise we’ll leave you to it.
